BRPH Office Building at Meridian Center
The Indian River Lagoon provides a spectacular backdrop for the Meridian Center – a four-story, Class “A” office building designed and built by the BRPH integrated services team. BRPH is also the signature tenant in this building, with corporate headquarters occupying the top two floors.
Why was Tilt-Up selected for the project?
In addition to exterior Tilt-Up walls, Tilt-Up core walls were constructed and erected prior to installing the slab on grade, and were used in place of CMU on the stairwells and elevator shafts, a design shift that allowed the schedule to be shortened and also prevented the need for scaffolding, ensuring a less congested and safer project. The design and construction team carefully planned and executed complex panel casting and erection sequences to ensure the tight schedule was met.
The building is fashioned after a traditional European-style open studio model. Individual workspaces receive natural light from oversized perimeter windows, and waist-high partitions between the spaces encourage creative collaboration.
Large glass facades, as well as curved panel walls and projected panel entryways, provide architectural enhancements to the building and accentuate the design. A neutral color scheme and applied raised bands support the building’s Class A status, while the addition of applied EIFS bands, medallions and moldings completes the modern look of the project.
To help the building achieve LEED Silver certification, the contractor used recycled material in the concrete and 100-percent melted scrap for the reinforcing steel.
